Compound microscope

1) For a compound microscope the magnifying power is

m =  mo x me

where

mo  =  magnifying power of the objective lens

me  =  magnifying power of the eyepiece lens

2) Now suppose the image A'B'  is at the focus of the eyepiece lens, So magnifying power of the eyepiece is

3) Now

<XF1C1  =  <A'F1B'

<XC1F1  =  <A'B'F1

Therefore

But    AB  =  C1X

Now magnifying power of the objective lens is

B'F1  =  L  = it is called length of the microscope

fo  = focal length of the objective lens

therefore for a compound microscope

Magnifying power is

m =  mo x me
