1) Optical fibers :

Optical fibres are made of high glasses where lights on one ends are allowed to enter in a suitable angle so that every time lights get total internal reflection and finally comes out from the other end of the fibre.

Optical fibres are made of high refractive index glasses and coated with low refractive index material.

2) diamond :

Diamond is an another example of total internal reflection, the critical angle of diamond is very low  So once light enters into the diamond, lights get easily undergoes total internal reflections many times. This is the reason why diamond is best known for its brilliance.

3) Mirage :

1) On hot summer day the air which are nearer to the ground are hotter than the air which are far from the ground

As hot airs are less dense and cool airs are much

2) Less dense air has low refractive index & high denser air has high refractive index dense the refractive index of air increases as height increases.

4) Now when air is still, and lights coming from tall objects such as tress bends away from the normal and after many deviations light undergoes total internal reflections when incident angle is more than the critical angle.

5) When such light are catched by an observer how found images of the tall object as like images formed in pool with full of water, as shown below.

This phenomenon is called Mirage formation
