Capacitors in series connection





1) Suppose two capacitors C1 & C2 are connected in series as shown in the diagram.


2) And applied a potential V from a battery.


3) Due to this potential say Q amount of charge is flowing trough them.


4) Now Q charge must flows through the all capacitors connected in series.


5) Due to different values of capacitance C1 & C2, say C1 capacitor has potential  V1, C2 capacitor has potential  V2


6) Then we find

V = V1   +   V2


Now we know that









7) If   C net   is the net resultant capacitance of the system, then from the definition of capacitance we know that

8) Now if there are n no of capacitors with capacitance  C1, C2, C3, C4, ………… Cn
